Pay Jay Productions, Inc. was founded in 2001 by J Dilla to own and manage his intellectual property including uses of his name, image, likeness, life story, brand, and music rights, and continues to do these things as part of his estate.

The Estate of James Yancey honors J Dilla’s last will and testament by managing his legacy, property, and business for James’s beneficiaries: daughters Ja’Mya Yancey and TyMonae Whitlow, brother John Yancey, and mother Maureen Yancey. Alex R. Borden was chosen to be appointed as the Administrator of the Estate by these beneficiaries and he continues that management, including the ongoing operations of Pay Jay Productions.
